CD Reviews

This is a fun dance album!

"Remembered hearing this album in 1995. Though she only recorded a few albums, she made quite an impact in the'80s, the same time that Madonna and Janet Jackson had numerous dance hits. A few songs were rerecorded for this album to get it out of some dated 80s sounds. Two of Hearts I love 20 years later in 2006, but it's no contest to the solid trio of songs 11, 12 and 13. The Model (with its galloping rumbling groove, and rare usage of rock guitars), Video Girl (with its Cars-inspired groove and sounding as if you're driving up and down a hill) and Music's Gone (my favorite on here, very addictive in the rhythms, and wow, how they play those keyboards so high on the bridge, how they crescendo so way up as on a high mountain!)--undeniably catchy keyboard/synthesizer heavy songs that's definitely '80s! Could rival any 10-member live band of musicians, which I do like. They sound so catchy and fun today. We Connect suffers from copying Two of Hearts' similar groove too much and it would have sounded perfect for Madonna. I wouldn't call it Greatest Hits--she did only a few albums and I heard her mostly in 1986. She had a thin voice similar to Paula Abdul, music somewhat parallel to Madonna's dance grooves, but they blended well with the high energy dance numbers. I'd get this CD again if I wanted to! You could be playing these songs 40 to 50 to 100 times and not get tired of it--some very catchy, creatively done, dance pop!"
It's not that bad....but

"Stacey Swain deserves some credit along with Jon St. James for the sound of dance music today. Early SSQ had ideas in sampeling and driving rhythms that other "top" performers picked up way later. My only problem with this package is the remakes of songs from the Playback album which is impossible to find now. Stacey added a very sultry kick to these tunes and if you want something different to dance to instead of the status quo give it a try."
GREAT STUFF

"I enjoyed this album! It's a good collection of some of Stacey's best tracks. The beats kick and she has a good dance music voice. If you're looking for some classic pop music, give Q a try. And, if you do like Stacey Q, I'd pick up NIGHTS LIKE THIS as well - there are some great songs on there that don't appear on GREATEST HITS."
