"this is an excellent cd, and highly recommended. why should you buy it? well, because thereÕs actual MUSIC on it, made my REAL HUMANS, unlike a lot of the ÔmusicÕ that is out there today. there are no fancy dance steps, pelvic gyrations or other innane gimmicks to distract.........just GREAT musicians making GREAT music. stacy phillips literally Ôwrote the bookÕ on resonator guitar, or Dobroª, and on this CD you can hear why. for those of you who have never heard one, a ÔdobroÕ is an acoustic guitar, which has a metal speaker cone in it, and is usually played flat on the lap and fretted with a metal bar. mr. phillips is literally one of THE greatest players ever to touch this instrument, and his virtuosity shines through on all fourteen of the tracks on this CD.........musically, there are lots of ÔgenresÕ covered (what a horrible word), including, bluegrass, swing, jazz, country, hawaiian, klezmer,blues, african, and a whole lot of Ônone of the aboveÕ which is part of what makes stacyÕs playing so wonderfully unique and undefinable. a must have for dobro players, and fans of good music everywhere..... stacy also plays a mean, fiddle, but thatÕs for another review...... ---------------------- lloyd thayerl@bc.edu"
