This first extended survey of the piano music of Ernst Krenek (190092) opens with his Fourth Sonata of 1948, which revisits the graceful elegance of the First Viennese School in the style of the Second. It continues with the witty George Washington Variations and the first recording of a brief Prelude written for the Swiss patron of music, Werner Reinhart, and concludes with Kreneks completed version of Schuberts unfinished Piano Sonata in C major, d840. The Ukrainian born pianist Stanislav Khristenkos performances have been praised in numerous international media. A top prizewinner at some of the most prestigious international piano competitions, in 2013 alone he won First Prize at the 2013 Cleveland Intl Piano Competition, First Prize at the 2013 Maria Canals Intl Music Competition, and was named Fourth Laureate at the 2013 Queen Elisabeth Competition.
