Very fine studio session from 1993

"This was probably Mr. T's final studio session, and it's a fine one. The 15+ minute "Caravan", the classic from the Ellington songbook, may be the ultimate small group version ever recorded. You can hear one of the players say "That's the record right there!" at the end, and it truly is worth the price of admission alone. Flautist Hubert Laws also plays more creatively than he does on many of his own sessions. Hanna, Carter, and Tate provide superb rhythmic support. The strings on the ballads don't add anything, but they don't harm Stanley's ability to make interesting melodic statements, either. Recorded in May 1993, the digitally mastered sound quality far surpasses the fidelity of his earlier recordings.Stanley Turrentine - Sax (Tenor)
Hubert Laws - Flute, Piccolo
Sir Roland Hanna - Piano
Ron Carter - Bass
Grady Tate - Drums
Gloria Agostini - Harp
Vince Evans - Kalimba
Steve Kroon - Percussion
Matthew Raimondi - Strings, Concert Master
Don Sebesky - Arranger, Conductor, Producer"
