As an already appreciated songwriter, having played shows with everyone from Wesley Willis to Robbie Fulchs, Abts brought her catchy songs to another level by recruiting an elite team of rockers and taking over the Twin Ports of Superior, WI and Duluth, MN. And, the group is now releasing its long-awaited debut on Chairkickers' Union Music (Low, Kid Dakota, Haley Bonar.) The State Champs combine male and female vocals with giant beats from Zac Bentz (The Surfactants, Dirty Knobs, Both) and guitar work by Greg Cougar Conley (Both, Puddle Wonderful), with Eric Anderson (The Surfactants, Gonolius) rounding out the group with his classic metal-influenced bass lines. With this album, The State Champs are poised to win over the hearts and minds of every pop-rock aficionado.
