Product DescriptionBrooklyn prog-punk outfit Stats writes complex, intensely heavy songs with or without vocals that skillfully balance eccentricity with catchiness. The trio's kinetic, aggressive sound reflects a diverse set of influences, including ALL, Keelhaul and the Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Guitarist Joe Petrucelli and drummer Hank Shteamer formed the band in 2002 under the name Stay Fucked and went on to self-release several CD-Rs. In 2007, they issued an ep Windpipe, via the Unfun label. In 2009, after changing their name to STATS and recruiting bassist Tony Gedrich, they self-released the Marooned ep, which contained their most powerful and epic material to date. Crowned, the 2010 follow-up engineered by Ben Greenberg and mastered by James Plotkin represents another major step forward for the band: Clocking in at 20 minutes, it contains an LP's worth of musical ideas.
Stats performs frequently in NYC and has toured the U.S. three times, having opened for like-minded artists such as the Fucking Champs, Dysrhythmia, Zs, Orthrelm's Mick Barr, Behold... the Arctopus and more. Members of the band have also performed with prominent local avant-rock groups Aa, Extra Life and Ocrilim.
