"I discovered Stephan Eicher thanks to his duet with I Muvrini in their disc Umani. He comes from German Switzerland, although most of his songs are sung in French.
He's got a personal style, rock with with influence of electronic music, from New Order to Pet Shop Boys. He played with several bands before starting his solo debut. In his two first albums he used plenty of computers, which he left a small deal with his third album "Silence". Just right then, he'd been alone with his "machines".
Afterwards, Eicher tries singing accompaigned with strings, and meets the poet Philippe Dijan, who would write most of Eicher's lyrics in every future album. In 1991 Eicher begins to be widely known with his album "Engelberg". Curiously, the song "Hemmige" is sung in Eicher's Bernish dialect.
After more successful albums, he released Taxi Europa in 2003. He returns to rock sonority, and there are slow tempo songs as well. This last but not least album of his is a synthesis of his career (to the day) as wandering musician and rock troubadour."
