Grappelli at his best

"I am a violinist, and I love both classical and jazz. There aren't many jazz violinists out there, and many of them don't appeal to me. In my opinion, however, Grappelli is one of the best jazz musicians of all time. This album is filled with standards showing off his style. Most of the cuts are well-known classics that he puts his own spin on. His technique is great, his sound is great, and his improv is great. I highly recommend this album and also those in which he plays with Yehudi Menuhin. If you are at all interested in either jazz or violin, this CD is for you."
A Disappointment

"I have been a Grappelli fan for years and this CD was a gift to myself. It has been a disappointment. When the focus is on Grappelli's violin, the CD is lives up to my expectation. Too often, however, the music is dominated by a "jazz" organ and deteriorates to a sound reminiscent of Musak. You will note that none of those segments are heard in the 60 second excerpts.
I was excited when I ordered the CD. It was a surprising disappointment. I threw away the CD."

"I am a violinist also...to me...this album is one of the most romantic and sexiest albums of all time...very elegant, and classy. Nuff said!!!"
