CD ReviewsA Lost Treasure!!!!! Keith Summers | Columbia, MD United States | 12/01/2003 (4 out of 5 stars) "This is a great album! It was produced in 1975 by veterans Hal David and Burt Bacharach. This collection is much more pop oriented than Stephanie's later material, but what is here is excellent. My favorite cuts are the great opening track "I Took My Stength From You", "Living On Plastic", "If You Can Learn How to Cry" and the Dionne Warwick remake "This Empty Place". Definitely worth searching out, not just for fans of Stephanie, but anyone who appreciates good music sung by a great artist." Sterling lost 70s soul Bacharach style - love it! G. Mitchell | Los Angeles, CA United States | 09/11/2005 (4 out of 5 stars) "Stephanie Mills is one my favorite singers - no matter what she sings, you always get her distinctive, soaring "Stephanie" style - her voice is put to good use and given the cool mid-70s Hal David/Burt Bacharach treatment here - too bad this amazing album is now long OOP and goes for over $100 online!? I was lucky to find a copy in the bargain bins for under $10, so maybe you'll be lucky, too, if you search hard enough? No matter - this reminds me of early, great RANDY CRAWFORD recordings and is a must-have for true Ms. Mills fans out there - much more "cross-over/pop" than her later MCA work, but definitely a keeper even if you're LIVING ON PLASTIC!"
