"Stephanie Mills was definitely one of the best singers of my generation with a voice truly unique. This album "Home" is arguably her best work ( to me it is - can't be topped ). But she sings at a level so soulful and meaningful; belting out those notes like nobody's business. You can tell that she put emotion, thought and effort into crafting these beautiful numbers. With no songs under the 4 minute and thirty second mark, she gives you time to digest the material. Her singing never gets boring and the melodies and backdrops are moving and exciting. Her songs sort of remind me of some extended gospel songs. Yea the actual song is over but they keep on singing it and it doesn't lose its flare it had when it started; and when it's finally over you wanna sing it some more. The uptempo numbers don't compare with the ballads but are nonetheless entertaining songs. The real meat though is in the soulful ballads like the incredible Home or Comfort Of A Man. Something In The Way You Make Me Feel is also an all-time classic. This cd is jamming and you should get this soulful classic as soon as possible. 5 stars."
A GOOD SONG NEVER DIES!!!

"And this one has so many that it is investment worth making. The highlight, however, is "Home," a reworking of the Mills' signature song from "The Wiz." Mills magnificently performs it backed by a super orchestral/chorus arrangement.Hearing this one will send chills up and down the spine of everyone within earshot!"
SUPERB!

"I THINK THAT THIS IS STEPHANIE'S BEST ALBUM, ALTHOUGH ANYTHING SHE SINGS IS THE BEST. I DON'T THINK THAT SHE IS GIVEN NEARLY ENOUGH RECOGNITION FOR BEING SUCH A POWERFUL VOCALIST. STEPHANIE PUTS SO MUCH ENERGY INTO SINGING "HOME". THIS PARTICULAR SONG JUST MAKES YOU THINK BACK TO ALL THOSE WONDERFUL TIMES YOU HAD WHEN GROWING UP, AND PUTS A SMILE ON YOUR FACE. THIS CD SENDS OUT A SORT OF SPIRITUAL MESSAGE. I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE, BECAUSE THE SONGS HAVE STRONG MEANINGS IF YOU JUST LISTEN TO THE LYRICS."

"This album features four strong singles, two of which reached number one on the r&b charts. Particulary noteworthy is Stephanie's new rendition of Home, which is stronger than the original version featured on the 1975 Broadway cast album for The Wiz. Her vocals have matured, and the performance has a stronger gospel belt. The three Angela Winbush compositions, Something in the Way, So Good So Right, and Comfort of a Man, are all excellent. Side two is less enjoyable, but the total package is worth purchasing."
Well worth the price......

"The tune "Home" from the musical "the Wiz" is considered Mills' theme song and how could it not be? She opens her heart, exposes her soul, and the result is one of the most beautiful and haunting soul ballads ever recorded. This song teaches the younger female singers how to nuance a lyric, when to whisper, when to pull back and when to belt the hell out of a note. She dossn't have to show us how well she does it, it just happens.
This CD is one of my favorites, and worth the price to hear "Home""
