"I like old dirt roads, I don't like Interstates..."

"This cd, which dropped out of sight after an NPR feature several years ago, is one of the most thoughtful since Bob Dylan's gravy years. Do only aging boomers appreciate intelligent lyrics, soulful singing from the heart, melody and sanity any longer? A great cd for a long car trip down old dirt roads at 15 mph, with your dog panting out the window and the thimbleberries and bracken trying to peek in...buy it and support a poet who probably knows it...."
An album of great honesty and beauty

"So glad this is available to the public on Amazon...but who will know to look it up? I never heard the NPR piece but know how effective that kinda press can be. I stumbled on this in the used bins. What cretin would have discarded this? Stephen gets right up to the edge of going too far autobiographically but stops short, thank goodness. With no pretense, he weaves together an achingly beautiful life journey that almost always leads me to the phone to call an old girlfriend or my sisters or my grandfather...wait..he's dead..but I'd picked up the phone forgetting that. After a year of trying to figure out who his voice reminded me of, I nailed it. Dave Loggins who sang Please Come To Boston. Remember that one? I also reccomend John Gorka to fans of Stephen."
One of a kind songwriter

"This album is so soulful, but you have to catch him live to really get what he's trying to give you. He is my favorite songwriter."
Soothing, soulful and thought provoking

"great cd. Never get tired of it. Heard review of it on NPR 2+years ago and finally found it last summer (in Anchorage - not an easy feat)."
