Nightshade is the 5th solo release from multi Juno Award-winning artist Steve Dawson and the followup to the Juno-Award nominated Telescope, which also won a Western Canadian Music Award, and a Canadian Folk Music Award. Steve is one of Canada's best-known fingerstyle and slide guitarists, and while this release showcases those styles, the songwriting is the focus of this recording. Nightshade was recorded in Vancouver with an all-star backing band that includes Geoff Hicks (Colin James) on drums, Keith Lowe (Bill Frisell, Fiona Apple) on bass, Chris Gestrin (K-OS, Randy Bachman) on keyboards, and Jill Barber on vocals. Steve has regularly performed at most major Canadian folk and jazz festivals as a solo performer and with many other artists, including Jim Byrnes, the Sojourners, and The Mississippi Sheiks Tribute Project, with legendary musicians John Hammond, Van Dyke Parks, Geoff Muldaur and many more.
