"On this album you will not find one radio friendly hit. You will not find a pleasant mix of toe-tappers and ballads, nor will you find anywhere near a balance between lighter and more serious themes. What you will find is one bravely original album that explores sounds and themes which anyone who has been around half the time that Steve Green has been in music production would be (rightfully) our of their mind to record.
Why? Because on "Somewhere Between", Steve Green--in my book--has finally bridged the gap between Performer and Artist. Don't get me wrong, I've appreciated Steve's mighty album performances over the years, his winsome personality, his intense spiritual values...but a true musical artist I have not known him to be until now. With more songs written by Steve on this album than on any previous recording, and with more musical arrangements developed by him as well, Steve is no longer simply a great singer of songs in my book, he has taken some very important steps into creative artistry.
Even more impressive is the fact that what he has written, along with the songs he has chosen from others for this album, is not your run-of-the mill Steve Green album. A unique, often haunting soundscape of neo-classical and A.L. Weber fused with incredibly intense lyrics possess every song on the album. There is no formula or generic map driving this production. With little regard to marketing pressures, Steve sings what he wants where he wants, from track 1 to 10, and you can tell. For me, what is most impressive, hands down, is that on this album Steve embraces every stereotype his critics have formerly pummeled him about--his seriousness, his intensity, his classical-leanings. On this album, he unabashadely embraces them all. Not in order to present himself as morose and out-of-touch does Steve share this part of himself, but in order to share who he is in his darkest, most vulnerable hour does he give us this personal musical journal.
When you want to dance, put on "Where Mercy Begins". When you want to feel overwhelmed with technical singing-excellence, put on his "Hymns" album. But when you want to hear the most honest, genuine offering of Steve's career to date, you need to listen to this album."
A great and moving CD

"Steve Green's latest CD, Somewhere Between, is an excellent collection of reflective and thoughtful lyrics, original melodies, and his trademark vocal clarity and passion for the Lord. The music resonates with the soul while the lyrics challenge and renew the mind. Steve Green has once again produced a collection of songs that will challenge and encourage the Christian in his or her walk with Christ. Somewhere Between also includes "Tu Presencia," a moving Spanish song. Whether you have enjoyed Steve Green's great music for years or are new to this remarkable Christian artist, I highly recommend Somewhere Between."

"Words cannot describe the impact this recording has had on my life. Several months ago nearly every facet of my life fell apart. I was immediately blessed with great spiritual helps through churches and music. In the area of music, Steve's new recording has been the pinnacle of the musical helps in getting me through this extremely difficult time. In this recording he doesn't "blow the roof off" with his usual songs of explosive praise. This recording is introspective and goes to the deepest core of our heart's brokenness. I have often found myself singing and crying with Steve as I travel the roads of Columbus. Recently I went to a concert where he sang much of this album. He was gracious to meet with me after the concert to talk and pray. Very soon I will be singing track 9 from the album (In You Alone) in my church. For me the poignancy of the last line of the song sums up my life right now--"When I reach the end, You are just beginning. In You alone, I find all that I need." This is a must buy recording for those going through deeply challenging and difficult times. It is medicine for the soul."

"I grew up on Steve Green - "Hide 'Em in Your Heart" and "Find Us Faithful" etc. etc. so honestly I was really surprised when I listened to Steve Green's newest album since it is so unlike what I remember hearing as a child. The first thing I said is "This is Christian pop-opera" and I'm not alone in this. The review at independantbands.com [...] compares him with Josh Groban, Sarah Brightman and Andrea Boccelli.
But this is a beautiful, unique album - I'm sure I've never heard anything quite like this. The style really fits Steve Green's amazing vocal ability - I can definitely see him doing more albums in this vein.
The lyrics are really poetic, scriptural & show a mature idea of the Christian life. I especially liked "You're My God" and "When the Morning Comes".
I'd listen to it online first and make sure it fits your tastes but it is a GREAT buy and one I think will become a favorite in our house!"

"First let me state that I LOVE this album. I understand that the sheet music becomes available in August and really SHOULD fly off the shelves. I am a classically trained tenor and cannot WAIT to start signing this music in church. The words touch souls and the music soars. Melodies are humable but provide enough of a challenge to make those wayward musicians struggling to cross over into a contemporary service smile.
However I have to chuckle at the people who this this is not a commercially viable album. It is so Josh Groban its not even funny....and thats a GOOD thing. Listen to Grobans "My Confession" or "To Where You Are" and then listen to these songs. if you have ever struggled in your life or sufferred devastating loss, you can;t help but love this album. BUY IT! And encourage Steve and others to make more! And steve, if you read this, SEND ME THE MUSIC! Hurry Up!"
