"it is great to hear some jazz that focuses on the essential elements, melody and swing. This CD is a great tribute to the guitar tradition. The stripped down instrumentation and the acoustic quality of the recording(No AMPS ALLOWED)leave Steve and his trio no place to hide. They pass that test with flying colors. There is not one track that I don't enjoy and the CD is on the top of my stack. I would suggest this CD to anyone who likes great music. "As soon as I first heard the Steve Greene CD, I knew it would be a regular listen. It's devoid of the pretentious, over-produced sheen of many newer jazz records, and sounds very intimate. Recently, the CD was playing in the living room while I was in the kitchen. I was amazed at how much it sounded like Steve's trio was right in the next room! It's got an excellent, natural sound and a relaxed feel that is just tremendous.And the playing is great! If you get a chance to get this CD, don't pass it up."
