The depth and breadth of the man's artistry over the years is legendary and 'Tribute', his latest release finds him continuing to thrive in the genre-hopping tradition for which he has become known. This is a solid effort containing original compositions for solo nylon string guitar as well as traditional pieces chosen by Mr. Hackett from the classic guitar repertoire. The performances here are heart-felt and virtuosic and have been captured in an engineering process aimed at recreating some of the atmosphere of the great guitar recordings of the early to mid-twentieth century. 'Tribute' is an artistic success on many levels and works to further cement Mr. Hackett's reputation as a musician whose name bears mentioning alongside a relatively select community of successful 'crossover' artists, (Andre Previn and George Gershwin come to mind) a rarefied atmosphere indeed."
