"I bought Steve Reynolds's first album "Exile" last summer and really enjoyed it. In my ignorance I didn't realize at the time he already had a second album out, not until the other day when my Pandora station played a song from it. I went straight out and downloaded it from Amazon and was not disappointed.
If you want to make a criticism you could say that "Carnival Papers" is a lot like "Exile" but in a way that's a good thing if you liked the first album as I did. The sound on "Carnival Papers" is a little more lush at spots with some strings and background vocals and such, though a lot of it is still Reynolds's smooth voice and acoustic guitar.
I'm never sure how to categorize music, so I'd say if you like other more folk-pop acts like Matt Nathanson or Howie Day or Josh Joplin Group then you'll love both of Reynolds's albums.
That is all."
