"At long last! An artist that understands and loves classic standards! I have only had this CD for a few days, but feel that I have had it for years! Steve Tyrell is amazing-he seems to be relaxed and passionate about this music all at the same time. I grew up with a musician for a father, and my Dad would have loved this music! All I can say is, don't keep us waiting too long for a follow-up! Such arrangements combined with absolutely wonderful phrasing and total love and understanding of the music is rare in this day and age of machine driven music, and annoying ear candy. Bring on the sequel, Steve!"

"Steve Tyrell's blend of mild jazz classics is sure to please. My wife gave it to me for Christmas, and there isn't a single song I skipped. This is the kind of disk you put on and press the repeat button, then sit back and enjoy. No loud, annoying, experimental or elevator jazz sound here, just pure entertainment from a singer whose grasp of style and appreciation for a certain familiarity is refreshing. Tyrell doesn't distance himself from the classics, but rather wraps himself in them and clearly enjoys what he is doing. Another thing, the orshestration is superb. This is not one of the disks you put on and wait for the dreaded shrill. You won't find it here. I strongly recommend it for those people like me who throw out far too many disks that promise more than they deliver. Steve Tyrell's "A new Standard" is mild jazz, as it was meant to be: solid, confident and soulfull. A great buy!"
I LOVE IT!

"Steve Tyrell brings just the right tone to these great old songs, both in the arrangements and the way he sings them. Each song is a joy to listen to! Great for romance! :)"

"Sometimes you luck out on an impluse buy. I saw the play list , heard a couple of cuts and bought the CD. Two days, eight plays later I am still in awe. There are not enough "O's" in smooth to describe the sound, from voice to arrangements, to playing, it doesn't get any better. So Steve, when is your next CD coming out?"
Yes! A CD for us yung'uns who love the old standards!

"Okay, I'm 31, not quite a yung'un, but I heard this playing at Barnes and Noble, and asked in the music department who it was. He told me "Steve Tyrell," but apologized that they were all sold out! I finally found it, but almost everywhere it had been snatched up by music lovers looking for real crooning. Believe me, as soon as you hear any song from this album, you'll have to have it too! A fantastic achievement, and my instant favorite album. Thank you, Mr. Tyrell!"
