He was originally released on Atlantic Records as Steven Kowalczyk with a debut entitled, MOODS AND GROOVES ( produced by Ahmet Ertegun and Shane Keister). This is an album of original Swing tunes and Ballads and including one standard, I THOUGHT ABOUT YOU. He is backed by great players including James Genus - bass, Clarence Penn - drums, Jon Cowherd - piano, Marc Ciprut- guitar and Nathan Childers -sax. "I got hold of this CD by chance. Have been bored listening to insipid renditions of jazz standards by great imitators of the art of Jazz singing. Was also wondering if there are any original singer-songwriters in the Jazz idiom really thinking in different ways.

This CD gave me assurance and much much more. It has a perfect amalgamation of technique, style, soul and originality and a kind of songwriting which is so honest and sincere deriving out of instances from life and all its colors abound. My only critique would be the vocal contour of some of the songs which could be played around a bit more.

Mr. Santoro is a real talent, a low profile unassuming original person who has embarked on this journey of self exploration with complete honesty.

I would be really interested in his body of work as it develops over the years."

"Incredible tunes and voice! Santoro is a huge talent and covers the bases from swing "Whisper My Name" to hardfelt soul "Waiting for Grace". "Runaway" alone is worth the ridiculous price of the cd. Watch out for Santoro - this kind of light can't be hid forever."
