"This is a great album, but be careful which version you get.

I highly recommend buying the original "Bring on the Night" CDs (which I give 5 stars) instead of the remastered version (which is an import). You'll not only save yourself some money, but you'll be getting a higher fidelity recording.

An audiophile might be more critical of the new version than me, but I sometimes found it hard to tell the difference between the two in sound quality. But when I did detect differences, the remastered version compared unfavorably. One instrument that really decided it for me were the cymbals. They sounded much more natural on the original CDs, while the remasters sounded like the digitized version.

Like most remasters, this one plays louder than the original. But if I want louder music, I'd prefer to use the volume knob than sacrifice the quality of the recording."
4 STARS IF YOU LOVE STING

"Myself I love this album. Its a great driving or lounging album. You know, one of those that you let play from beginning to end. It goes back to an older era for sting. Dont expect pop like melodies and lyrics. Strong blues style(great for any live album in my opinion). Covers several police songs quite well. This album isn't for everyone though, I love sting so it works for me."
Are some remasters a hoax?

"I spent a half an hour going from my original 'Bring On The Night' to the anticipated remaster, and I gotta say...hm. I think we've been had. I agree with the reviewer that said the original's high end was much cleaner, a lot of which gets muddled on the remaster. It sounds a bit canned, claustrophobic. It's louder, that's about it. Sting has always been meticulous about the sound on his discs and since 'Nothing Like The Sun' all of his recordings have been full 'ddd' digital. I even recall noting the quality difference when they were first released, when compared to other c.d.'s of that time. I give the content 5 stars (no one should be denied this amazing album), the remaster, however...Track down the original."
