Product DescriptionSomeone once said north London mavericks the Sting-Rays were 'stranded at the end of rock n roll time.' For five years during the 1980s, they crashed and bashed their inimitable way around the UK and Europe, gathering a small but devoted audience. Seeing their role principally as proselytizers for their enthusiasms 60s and 70s punk, rockabilly, folk rock, psychedelia the band were pretty much outsiders to the mainstream. But the Sting-Rays influence has lingered, touching not just subsequent punkabilly generations, but also the likes of the New Pornographers A.C. Newman and others in the know. The band released several singles and albums in the 1980s, but it is as an amazingly energetic live act that they are most fondly remembered. 'Live At The Klub Foot 1984' catches the Sting-Rays on a sweaty night at the late and legendary Hammersmith venue. It s a wild programme full of mayhem and psychosis, where Bal, Alec, Mark and Jeff thunder through a typical set, mixing covers from the likes of Love, Gene Clark, the Seeds and the Peanut Butter Conspiracy, along with sarcastic punk/garage mash-up originals such as Go Ask Alice, Escalator and Joe Strummer s Wallet . The package features an in-depth sleeve note from Mojo s Lois Wilson, and is illustrated with photos and memorabilia from the bands own archive.
