"Here is an underrated country performer, if there ever was one. Stoney had a voice that was just a natural progression from his biggest influence, Lefty Frizzel. Best of all, Stoney was a true, no BS, redneck who let the chips fall where they may. The honesty and experience in his voice is seldom found in music; especially in today's country music. There are 20 fine numbers here, including his biggest hit, "Two Dollar Toy". Also included are: "Jimmie Rodgers Blues", a song that makes Merle Haggard look like a two-bit street performer; "The Fishin Song", a comedic bit in the vein of Roger Miller; "Dont Be Angry", a fine cover of Stonewall Jackson. There's some true, hardcore, no-punches-pulled honky tonkin' here as well, such as "The Cute Little Waitress", "Head Bootlegger Man", and "Honky Tonk Heaven". However, in my opinion, the finest cut is "I Bought The Shoes (That Just Walked Out on Me)". This is a superb album by a superb artist; I dont need to tell you that after listening to this (and other true Country Music) you'll never again waste your time with the plastic dribble coming out of Nashville today. "Are you moved by the lonesome pine of Hank William's voice? Do you consider it ideal to be listening to George Jones, Johnny Cash, Johnny Horton, or Lefty Frizell when your'e on a camping trip or riding in the ol' truck with the windows rolled down? Do you have a beard? Look no furthur than Stoney Edwards for a late addition to your list of rugged country singers that sang with their hearts. Stoney Edwards, your recognition as a beacon in the hillbilly western music world is long overdue."

"Stoney Edwards was one of the best country singers of the 70's. His song "2 dollar toy" is one of the greatest country songs ever recorded-regardless of what the politically based music charts reflect.Listen to the words of 2 dollar toy and the phrasing he does. It's simply a masterpiece. As far as what one other reviewer said about unprofessional and uneven is totally ridiculous. His songs and singing were no different from Lefty Frizzell,Merle Haggard, George Jones recordings. This is one of my favorite cd's. I'm in the process of trying to get the legendary country station WSM-AM in Nashville to add some of his music to their playlist. If you like pure no holds barred country music- buy this cd.If Alan Jackson would re-record 2 dollar toy he'd have a number one hit on his hands without a doubt."
