"I am a fan of the Stranglers and remeberI songs like Always the Sun, Golden Brown and the like, the words and music blended so perfectly... the music moved through you and the words into you. Alas this mix does not have that polished sound so embodied in their work durning the 80's. It is a great CD for the price, but I like my music to match what I heard on the radio so long ago and this CD just did not do it for me... However the Best of Album which granted does have fewer songs has that finished and clean feel. If you are going to shell out your quids for anything I would get the Best of."

"I really like the Stranglers. I have one other "Greatest Hits" cd by them. I saw this "Anthology" Cd for only 10 bucks, and thought--wow what a deal. I mean two cd's worth of material, some of what I haven't heard before. But don't be fooled-- this isn't the Stanglers in their 80's glory. This is the Stranglers after one of the lead singers and founding members left the band. And it is mostly a live cd. I mean the dude sounds alright. The recording is clear and not bad at all. But it is mostly live and the big hits are weak in comparison to the classic studio cd's. So if you really wand to hear the real thing- like the incomparable hit-- Always the Sun--go elsware!"
