"Among Mantovani's first million sellers was an album of Strauss Waltzes, heard here in its stereo release from 1958. Mantovani fans who longed to hear these diamond musical gems of Vienna may have had difficulty finding this classic recording on CD. Thanks to Vocalion and its commitment to quality music and good taste, fans can delight once again in hearing the Blue Danube, the Treasure Waltz, the Voices of Spring and the Du und Du from Fledermaus. These charming and colorful waltzes are coupled with a rare 1977 compilation of hard-to-find Mantovani recordings, including a truly magical and mystical 1966 rendition of Johnny Mercer's "Dream", a poignant 1974 arrangement of "Till the End of Time", and a moving version of "Auld Lang Syne", a 1962 favourite which had limited release. This CD is another remarkable Vocalion two-in-one package of Mantovani's music that soothes and romances with timeless melodies. Whether its hearing "Londonderry Air" or strolling through a "Walk in the Black Forrest" or striking our senses with "Tulips from Amsterdam", Mantovani became a world citizen by capturing with his incomparable orchestral arrangements an intriguing musical sound that transports us around the globe. Thankfully, through his distinctive style Mantovani remains after more than 60 years our loyal ambassador in the world stage of lovely music."
