Any Strawbs is a good Strawbs

"Strawbs albums show a progression from folk to pop-rock with everything bent from a slightly mystical and dark perspective. This album is from the end of the evolution, and is basically in the commercial pop/rock vein. The songs are catchy enough, retaining the distinctive Strawbs/David Cousins flavor. "Joey and Me" and "Deadly Nightshade" stand up under repeat playing. While this is not Strawbs' strongest outing, their originality makes even their average stuff better than most other albums from the same time period. After 20 years, I still enjoy it. But then, I'm a big Strawbs fan!"
Deadlines needs a few listens

"I hated Deadlines,I bought the Lp when it was released back in 78 ,played it once ,then never played it again until a few months ago. After playing it for the first time in years,I still thought it sucked.I bought the cd recently ,and put it on one day and started doing things around the house.I had the cd on repeat play, and after a few times through ,I started to like the cd,alot.I don`t think it is the best cd the Strawbs put out,but it isn`t the worst one either. This cd is one of those, that has to grow on you,at least it had to grow on me.Alot of Jethro Tull Lp`s took a few listens for me to get into them too.I hated Songs From The Wood the first time I heard it,I forced myself to listen to it a few more times, and it became a favorite .Give Deadlines a few plays before giving up on it,there are some great songs on it."
Great band and great CD

"When this album came out, I had a radio show every Friday at 10 p.m.and along with Heartbreaker, I Feel Your Loving Comin On and Cut Like a Diamond(from Burning from you)and Simple Visions (from Deep Cuts), some songs from band this were favorites among listeners. This album produced various excelent songs that were always requested by the fans especially The Last Resort, New Begginings, I Dont Want to Talk About It and the haunting and misterious Deadly Nightshade. Dave Lambert songs were favorite among listeners. This is a great piece of work and is (and was) different because Dave Lambert s' guitar and voice is more prominent and Dave Cousins voice and performance is best recorded and produced. If you like the Strawbs in their more rock oriented phase, get this album as well as Burning for you, Deep Cuts and Ghosts. They were a great band and it is good to have them back (2003). Dave Cousins and also Dave Lambert recorded solo albums too (Lambert s' was produced by The Who s' John Entwistle)."
