A fine band on the wane

"One of the few support acts to ever give Blackmore's Rainbow a serious run for their money, Stretch's first two albums were superb examples of British boogie rock. With a hit single under their belts, the future looked bright for this band, but sadly their initial promise was never fulfilled. This, their third album, was enjoyable enough, with rousing covers of 'Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo' and 'Let's Spend the Night Together', but elsewhere there was a distinct lack of fresh ideas on offer, the original tunes seeming thinner this time around. However, with the paint-stripping voice of Elmer Gantry and the excellent Kirby on guitar this is still a worthwhile buy"
