Synopsis
Album Description Reissued 1977 album. Led by Elmer Ganty and also featuring ex-Curved Air guitarist Kirby and current Status Quo drummer Jeff Rich, Stretch scored a surprise hit in 1975 with 'Why Did You Do It'. 'Lifeblood' was the band's third LP, originally issued in 1977 by Anchor Records, and features 10 tracks of high quality soulful rock that should have ensured massive success for this vastly underrated outfit. CD ReviewsA fine band on the wane redmax | UK | 05/04/2001 (4 out of 5 stars) "One of the few support acts to ever give Blackmore's Rainbow a serious run for their money, Stretch's first two albums were superb examples of British boogie rock. With a hit single under their belts, the future looked bright for this band, but sadly their initial promise was never fulfilled. This, their third album, was enjoyable enough, with rousing covers of 'Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo' and 'Let's Spend the Night Together', but elsewhere there was a distinct lack of fresh ideas on offer, the original tunes seeming thinner this time around. However, with the paint-stripping voice of Elmer Gantry and the excellent Kirby on guitar this is still a worthwhile buy"
