Synopsis

Product Description
Ever since Substance Abuse dropped their critically acclaimed single ?What The F**k You Rhymin' For? back in 2000, they have been hailed as the emissaries of the golden era in Hip Hop when you couldn?t put out anything less than classic material. Following up with singles featuring lyrical heavyweights MF Doom, Rasco, and P.E.A.C.E. of Freestyle Fellowship, Substance Abuse has had fans eagerly awaiting their first full-length release. Now with ?Overproof?, a term signifying ?more than ample evidence? of their eminent dopeness, Substance Abuse aims to even out the playing field with a collection of heartfelt tracks that will remind the world what Hip Hop is supposed to sound like. It?s no wonder that they made Urb Magazine?s ?Next 100? for 2005! ?These guys are dope, no pun intended.? -Hip Hop Diva #3 ?After breakfast, it?s Substance Abuse all day long!? -Hip Hop Health Board (HHHB) The lyrics are addictive, and the beats are straight-up habit forming? -Grammatical B

CD Reviews

Must buy
Ryan W. Parker | fl | 04/30/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"This cd brings a light into the world of hip-hop. With all the garbage that gets labeled hip-hop these days, its nice to listen to a group with heart, love, and respect for hip-hop. This is the best cd I have bought in a long time. If you love hip-hop then this is a must buy. The verbal stylings of Eso Tre and Subz leave you wanting more. I personally cant wait till the drop antha album.. I will buy that too."
Rock solid hip hop record!

"listening to this album is food for thought. and in a rare instance, overproof doesn't feel like a throwback album, but a step forward. the beats are thick, rhymes insightful, the vibe cool. highly recommend adding this album to your collection."
