Amazon.comListening to this CD, which consists of outtakes from older recording sessions, back to back with Love Comin' Down, released the same year, highlights exactly how far Sue Foley has come over the course of her career. Back to the Blues consists of material recorded during sessions for Young Girl Blues (released in 1992) and Without a Warning (released in 1993). Since then, Foley's changed labels and grown much more confident. While this collection includes good stuff, and contains the same potential as the two albums, neither Foley's guitar work nor her singing is nearly as polished as it would one day become. Even so, there are some high points here, such as her cover of Bob Dylan's "Positively 4th Street," the original "Come Play with Me," which is practically a country tune, and "Gone Blind," which closes the album on a traditional blues note. --Genevieve Williams
