"Sun is yet another tight,self-contained band coming from Dayton,Ohio-along with the Ohio Players,Faze-O,Heatwave,Zapp,Lakeside and my all-time favorite,Slave. Although, not as consistent as Slave album-wise,Sun served up their own brand of Steaming,Scorching Funk. This is the only music by Sun available on CD and it definately highlights some of Sun's most Shining musical moments. It captures the Sun Groove
at its peak. This CD is a solid mixture of energetic dance jams as well as equally enjoyable slow jams. Featured here are such party-starters as "Sun Is Here"(from their only RIAA certified Gold Album 1978's'Sunburn')"Wanna Make Love(Come Flick My Bic)" (which featured Zapp's frontman Roger Troutman on the Vocorder Vocals),"They're Calling For More"(From their 1976 debut LP;Sun often used this song as an Intro to their Live Shows.),"Radiation Level"(a sensational combination of Synth,Guitars and Bass from their 1979 LP 'Destination:Sun'),"Pure Fire"(another single from 1979's 'Destination:Sun' album, a brilliant showcase of Sun's vibrant horn section and lush layers of Fender Rhodes; it also sports an electric guitar solo that strikes like a lightning bolt),"We're So Hot"(a typical funk romp from their 1977 album 'Sun Power'),"This Is What You Wanted"(a groovin',melodic funk jam from 1981's Sun:Force Of Nature),"Jammin' In Brazil" (is feel-good funk to keep you on the dancefloor;it includes some explosive & thunderous Bass Guitar Plucking & Playing which is like a Sonic Blast of Bass From Space;another cut from the 1981 LP 'Sun:Force Of Nature')and then there's the ultimate funk throwdown track:"Reaction Satisfaction(Jam Y'all:Funk It Up)" which happens to be one of the CD's best songs because it's a vivacious funk jam with plenty of monster bass & funky rhythm guitar to Funk U Up.This is THE JAM. It commands you to dance & get down until your body's been Funkdafied. This CD also contains classics like 1977'a "Conscience" a midtempo funk groove with soulful vocals, pensive lyrics,a throbbing drum beat, stirring fender rhodes,& of course heavy bass and guitar to add to the dramatic mood of the song and "I Had A Choice" is a sentimental,thought-provoking slow jam from 1978. Overall, this is a great CD filled with tight jams; every song on this CD demonstrates good instrumentation(something that's missing from today's music scene) and there isn't a track that you'll want to skip either. So if you like the music of Lakeside,Zapp,Kleeer,Cameo & Slave then you will definately enjoy Sun and you should buy this compilation."
At last! Its nice to have some SUN-light again!!

"I've been a BIG fan of Sun since I first heard 'Sun is Here'. This is a very good and broad selection of Sun's best known songs. Includes the other funky song, 'Jammin'in Brazil', which contains the amazing bass guitar performance by Don Taylor. Has to be heard to be believed. Only Louis Johnson and Mark Adams, come close.'Radiation level', is nothing but a classic, being both well written and produced. 'They're calling for more' is simply outstanding for being the ultimate song written for a live show. Its a pity my other favourite track, 'Dance, do what you wanna do', is not included here. In any case, its nice to have a selection of Sun tracks on one CD.If you like music by EWF, Slave, Aurra, Kleeer, Pleasure and Zapp, then this should be in your collection. I managed to get hold of Byron Byrd, sometime last year, as he was living in London. He told me that he planned to get the band together again, to record a new album. Unfortunately, I then lost touch with him. So if you happen to know where he is, or if you are reading this Byron, can we have a new SUN album soooon.......PLEASE!In the meantime,I guess I will just have to keep playing this album to death, until a new SUN album arrives!!"
I've been looking for this album for a long time!

"I love Sun. It brings back wonderful memories. When I get the CDs I ordered, I'm sure my children will enjoy the music right along with me. My husband is a big fan too. We can't wait."

"This CD is very good, however, Sunburn, which Sun recorded in 78, is better. If anyone knows where I could get a copy, I would be forever grateful."

"I finally found some old favorites like "I had a choice" and "Wanna make love". The other songs like "Sun is Here" are still party songs, but overall this is a nice CD for anyone who was in their teens in the 70's."
