Great album -captures magnetism evident in live performances

"Great album from a rising star! She is a magnetic performer with unquestionable "star quality" and this CD captures it extremely well, especially on "Jim" and "Overjoyed". We have followed Sunny from the very beginning and are fortunate to live in Washington, D.C. area where we can catch her live performances whenever possible. Also, her debut CD "Getting To Know You" (J.Jordan Music), which also features acclaimed young pianist George Colligan, is well worth a listen."

"I've enjoyed this CD over and over. Her voice is strong and rich while still delicate when she wants it to be. The minimal instrumentation lets her voice stand out as it should! "Overjoyed" is one of the best of her songs yet the entire CD is thoroughly enjoyable. If you like the sound of a woman's voice against a backdrop of simple but supportive and well-done jazz style music you will love this CD! It is one of my favorites. In fact, of all the time I've been to Amazon, this one is the first CD I've ever been moved to write about."

"This CD is not bad at all. Sunny has an endearing voice and Pierre Sprey is largely successful at capturing it. The vocal is somewhat unfocussed though, but despite that, the recording is very listenable. Some of these Mapleshade discs can sound a little too literal due to the minimalist miking techniques used in capturing them. 'Detour Ahead' and 'Overjoyed' are the jewels here. I always judge CDs by how often I reach for them during my frequent 'musical crises'. I often reach for this one. It gets the nod."
