"After reading Amazon.com's review by Adem Tepedelen, I'm happy to find that Amazon.com customers have good taste, even if Adem doesn't! This record rocks. To suggest that the band is in over their heads makes me wonder if Adem even bothered to listen to the record??? Must've Been High is a great little record by a band that (thankfully) doesn't take themselves too seriously. Is this is a *serious* country record? H*ll no! It's a great rock-n-roll band taking a chance on something new, different, and challenging...and winding up producing an excellent record. No matter how often I hear it, I never get bored...and I can't say that for many albums these days."

"Do you understand humour; irony; what entails a good time? Does your definition of "country" music lie a bit broader than Rascal Flats and the Dixie Chicks?
Listen to this lp. Better yet, catch the Supersuckers LIVE when they do the "Big Show" which, for the uninitiated, is an HOUR of country; about 20 minutes of Eddie SOLO and another HOUR of the full-on Supersuckers rock experience.
After witnessing this all-star marathon, buy their lps (start with LA MANO CORNUDA and then try EVIL POWERS OF ROCK & ROLL). Top it off with MUST'VE BEEN HIGH and you'll "get it."
Then, email Adam Tepedelen and ask him how he sleeps at night!

"This is not so much a record review as it is a reviewer review. I am in full agreement with R. Wyatt. Amazon's editorial reviewer Adam Tepedelen is dead wrong about this record. I wonder if he has any sense of humor at all. This is not a serious record and is not intended to be. I have had it since it came out in 1997 and it remains one of my favorite records. I own many thousands of vinyl records and cd's and I listen to "Must've Been High" regularly, which is more than I can say for so many other records that I have bought since this one came out. This is a fun record, from a band that does not take itself too seriously. It is not mainstream country by any means. Thank god for that. I wonder what Adam does like? I probably wouldn't like it."

"I blindly bought this CD expecting music like what is on "Smoke of Hell" and "Evil Powers of Rock and Roll", and was thoroughly impressed! The Supersuckers can rock the goodness right out of you, and they can definitely twang it out of you as well.The lyrics are funny and can be quite touching as well, but not in that creepy sort of touchy way...you know...like that creepy uncle who wants to call you slugger and wrestle with you on the floor even though your way too old. I mean that the lyrics make you want to go rumbling down a dirt road somewhere with the sun setting in front of you as you say, "Sheeyit, that looks nice. Can you hand me a Pabst from the cooler in the back?" to your woman. You know, nice sentimental feelings.Most country music doesn't tend to complicate issues with vague or cryptic descriptions, and that typifies the Supersuckers approach. The Supersuckers aren't just the best Rock 'n Roll band in the world, they're the best country band in the world, too. If you don't agree, then you have no place buying a Supersuckers CD anyway. If you already like the Supersuckers, then you should buy every CD by them you can."
This CD is definitely more country than punk

"This album is billed as punk-country music, which I would agree with, but its definitely more country than punk. Its punk music in the sense that its simple, but its definitely not loud and fast. The country influence comes from the vocals and instruments they use such as a Dobro and a fiddle, but don't let that turn you off because this album definitely lacks the elements that make country music annoying. I think the people that claim this album isn't country music just don't want to admit that they like a country album. Besides country and punk, I also hear some surf-guitar influences here and there, which is good to see. This album is simple but effective, and it is unlike any other album I've heard. I rate this album somewhere between four and five stars."
