Another fine album for the Supreme Majesty catalogue

"Having rated this mobs disc, Danger, at four stars I really wanted to hear more. Well here it is, the Supreme Majesty disc of 2005 and it's more of the same quality melodic metal.



Firstly, compared to their disc Danger, Joakims vox are better and he seems more comfortable and natural with the mike. He's not the most gifted vocalist around the melodic metal traps but he's actually easier to listen to than some of the more hysterical guys around the traps.



Like earlier releases, this is overall a polished metal platter, nothing seriously over the top, good arrangements, production is fine and musicianship seems OK too. It's important to note that while marketed as 'epic melodic metal' this is perhaps a disservice to Supreme Majesty as these guys can really crunch - as per the riffing of Dance of the Elements and this is a facet of their game where they are better than many other 'epic' bands like Rhapsody, who sometimes get carried away with complicated orchestral arrangements and forget to actually get in a few good headbangs!



Having said that, Supreme Majesty are are capable of using choir style arrangements and little bits of studio trickery at times too. This is is shown in the aforementioned track - Dance of the Elements.



My personal faves from this disc would be; Dance of the Elements, King of Warriors and My Revenge.



This album would be perfect for fans of their earlier work, and also for fans of melodic metal overall, with the added bonus that they aren't blighted with an hysterically high pitched wailer on the mike. The band also make sure that the bottom end of the mix is full too and that makes it easier on the ears.



Fans of Kamelot would probably enjoy this album immensely and it really is a fine addition to any melodic metal fans collection.



Lastly, a bit of extra value is given via a CD-rom section about the making of the album, which is a nice little bonus."
