Susan Pereira showcases her formidable skills as a vocalist, pianist, percussionist, composer and arranger on Tudo Azul, the recording début of her band Sabor Brasil. A mainstay of New York s Brazilian and world music scenes since 1983, Pereira takes us on a tour exploring various facets of the
musical mosaic found in the country that represents to many the very heart and soul of South America. Above all, Tudo Azul (the title translates loosely into English as everything s cool ) celebrates the sensual rhythms of samba in several instrumental and vocal settings. Sabor Brasil s core band propelled by the drumming of founding member Vanderlei Pereira is enriched with appearances by special guests Claudio Roditi on trumpet, Hendrik Meurkens on harmonica, guitarist Romero Lubambo and trombonist Luis Bonilla. Produced by Pereira, the CD includes five
of her compositions and one each by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Milton Nascimento, among other selections.
