Orange Mountain Music is proud to announced a new album and a new group and album: introducing the SUSO/GLASS QUARTET Good friends Philip Glass and Foday Musa Suso have been playing music together for 30 years. The two met in New York in the 1980s when Foday was doing a record release event there and heard that Glass wanted to visit Africa for pre-production work for the score to Powaqqatsi. Foday helped arrange a trip for Philip, a fast friendship ensued, and Powaqqatsi became their first project together. Last year Glass and Suso performed in Brooklyn along with Asher Delerme, a world music percussionist. Then, in 2018, Suso was visiting Glass in New York while producer and performer Leo Heiblum was in town. Leo had recorded Concert for the Sixth Sun for Orange Mountain Music and serendipitously, these players, Foday Musa Suso with his kora, percussionist Asher Delerme, Leo Heiblum on table, and Glass on piano -came together to begin work on new material which Suso had put forward for this album. Thus the SUSO/GLASS QUARTET album began.
