"Not as experimental as most Japanese stuff I've heard, however. Susumu Yokota is better known as a techno artist, and this disc demonstrates his ability to craft melodic, beatless instrumentals. The first 5 tracks are from the early 80s and sound even older, with distorted, warped tape, organ and guitar compositions. The newer tracks complement these well, with melodic synths and guitar work, mixing in a few vocal samples here and there. It's subtle music and rather short (just over 30 min) but worth looking into. You can hear portions of this alongside many other excellent tracks on the Osmosis sampler from the Leaf label, fyi."
