Synopsis

Product Description
Carefully chosen to complement Kent's multi-artist Blame It On The Dogg compilation, It's All Good throws the spotlight on more than a quarter of a century's worth of singles from the mind and soul of Jerry Williams Jr. - better known as Swamp Dogg to his many fans and friends. Tracing his career from early purveyor of dance crazes to (briefly) being the black Jerry Lee Lewis, onto sublime mid 60s soul and through to the classic Dogg sides of the 70s and beyond, It's All Good really does display what those old 60s albums liked to term The Many Sides Of this extraordinarily creative - and, happily for his fans, highly prolific - 'cult hero' of soul. The recordings here span 1963 to 1990 and embrace every facet of Swamp's genius, from funky to far out and ecologically-minded to explicitly romantic. Many of the man's best known and best loved sides can be heard in its 75 minutes - several for the first time on UK CD.All previously-released tracks are featured in their single versions, many of which are making their first CD appearance in this package. There's also the genuine bonus of a previously unissued version of Oh Lord, What Are You Doing To Me from 1967 that will especially delight fans of Swamp's mid 60s classics.Sadly for Swamp, his songs and productions have frequently brought greater chart success to others than they have to the man himself. Hopefully, It's All Good will at last bring him and his great songs to an audience that goes way beyond the terminally devoted fans that have followed his work for decades.
