"Swing Out Sister is my all-time favorite music group. However, this CD's avante guarde approach to jazz was a disappointment for me. The discordant arrangements are a far cry from their normal very cool treatment of contemporary jazz."

"I chose this as album of the year in 1999 and have always loved it. However, SOS's Cuban album really achieved legend status on my iPod as I spent two weeks in Havana. The title of the album, the references to all things Havana and Cuba shows that this is a themed masterpiece. "If I Had the Heart" is the finest pop song I have ever heard. This is one of the three greatest albums in the HISTORY of pop music. To any SOS fan who didn't like it, I encourage you to listen to it again on headphones. Phenomenal!"

"i put off buying this cd for some time due to its hefty price and some lackluster reviews (i should know better) but after hearing a couple of songs at swing outs canal room gig last year my interest was renewed, and so i finally purchased this cd (on ebay) and as it turns out this cd has become one of my most favorite and listened to cds. all the "bestest" elements of swing out style are present here, jazz, r&b, 60s pop, 70s soul, a nice culmination really of all the "bestest" aspects of their preceeding albums. its different- yet the same, youll never mistake swing out for being someone else thats for sure. this isnt one for completist or die hard fans, this is an album that every swing out fan, casual and die hard should own. its a shame it had such a limited release and a crime their record company doesnt push these guys more. ive been a fan a fairly long time (since kaleidascope world) and it bugs me i waited so long to pick this up. so if any one out there doesnt have this, hurry up and get it! youre missing out on some really great music."

"How could an album as incredible as this be out of print? Why was this marvelous album only released in Japan? "Filth and Dreams" is a sensual, cool pastiche of pop, jazz, hip-hop, easy listening, and bossa nova. Put it all into a blender and out comes this delicious concoction. "Closer Than The Sun" is my pick-to-click, but really the whole album plays through gorgeously. Truly one of the great albums of the '90s, "Filth and Dreams" cozies up to you like a lover and won't let go. The CD is rarely out of my car player because it has staying power. It sounds contemporary as well as retro. Do yourself a favor; stop reading this and buy the CD. Your life will be enriched beyond your wildest "dreams"."
