"Without much fanfare, Arte Nova has produced an excellent Bruckner Symphonic series with Stanislaw Skrowaczewski at the podium. With Symphony #1 the piece is underrated, Skrowaczewski's conducting is excellent, as is the Saarbrucken RSO's playing, and the recorded sound is good, if at slightly too low a level. This is an excellent bargain and preferable to more expensive offerings on other labels."
Skrowaczewski presents great interpretation for little money

"When Skrowaczewski conducts an orchestra of a small radio-station in Germany you might expect average quality. But that`s not the case with this recording. The Polish conductor really gets to the basic of this early symphony and the orchestra follows him without hesitation. Already honoured with the medal of the Mahler-Bruckner Society Skrowaczewski belongs to the top group of Bruckner conductors such as Furtwaengler,Karajan,Celibidache and Wand. If you think about buying a Bruckner symphony, you can't do anything wrong with this recording."
