Product DescriptionT.S. Brooks is Thomas Sean Brooks, better known as front-brooder of Minmae, which has commandeered some nine full-length records and countless singles, EPs, and compilation contributions. Brooks' solo work, not unlike Minmae, is pensive, internalizing, and haunting. Unlike Minmae, his solo debut is at once vulnerable and dauntless, exploratory and resourceful in its minimalism. Where Minmae explores new passages through colorful instrumentation, Brooks' solo work is primarily focused on colorful narratives, revealing his predilection for literary realism mixed with urban folklore. Brooks takes influence from Robyn Hitchcock, Syd Barrett, The Kinks, and many other English folk-psych artists. His Anglophilic leanings merge seamlessly with his affection for American roots rockers such as Big Star, Vic Chesnutt, Karl Blau, and Richmond Fontaine. Recorded in Portland, Oregon at Casa Hotstream West-Annex, Brooks teamed up with long-time friend and producer/engineer, Ross Beach, who was a member of several early Elephant 6 bands.
