"When Bossa Nova began to incorporate Jazz in its way of expression, a big number of trios and combos happened in the Brazilian scene. Sergio Mendes was one of them with his Bossa Rio Sextet.



Maybe the most important among these trios was Tamba Trio and this is a compilation of their recordings in Brazil, from their golden times, the early 60s.



Tamba Trio was Luiz Eca at the piano (also arranger and vocals), Helcio Milito on drums, and Bebeto Castilho on bass (also sax, flute and vocals).



Though this is an instrumental trio in its excellence, you will listen to beautiful vocal harmonies written by Mr. Eca.



The late Luiz Eca was one of the best arrangers and pianists for Bossa Nova. His recognition was openly expressed by Bill Evans who played live with him in nightclubs of Rio de Janeiro. Also by Michel Legrand who has recorded an album in 2005 all dedicated to Luiz Eca compositions.
