Album DescriptionChilean born master accordionist Manny Bobenrieth explores the music of Astor Piazolla, A.C. Jobim and Cole Porter in this exciting recording of the Manny Bobenrieth Ensemble. In the late '80s, the accordionist's father took him to hear Argentinean Astor Piazzolla's Quinteto Nuevo Tango perform at the National Press Club. "I remember being completely dazzled by the group's ensemble playing," he recalls, "stunned by the complexity of the music, and perhaps even a little scared." Piazzolla's compositions, which revolutionized traditional tango forms by incorporating dissonance, jazz harmony, counterpoint, and fugue. Bobenrieth has hand-picked and rehearsed his own ensemble ? accordion, violin, guitar, vibes, piano, and bass ? to interpret the works of this modern master. "I had no idea how ambitious my dream was," Bobenrieth admits. This is the debut recording of the Ensemble.
