CD Reviews

A journey..
d. Taylor Singletary | 08/15/2001
(5 out of 5 stars)

"this is tarentel's best yet. complex string arrangements, a somewhat-Julee Cruise/Antonio Badalamenti/David Lynch moment or three, movement, subtle motion towards planes and planets far off, and the little island that awaits in your heart. This is what this band will be remembered by."
Beautiful

"Tarentel has again created a masterpiece of haunting beauty. The subtlties in their compositions ensure that the record stands up to countless listenings.Mining the ambient field laid open by Eno, Reich and Labradford, but adding a richness that they may have lacked, Tarentel take their place in the spectrum with this record. Easily their best."
Gorgeous

"There is no other collective that I am aware of that makes such beautiful music from such simple arrangements. Moving from their distorted guitar-based Bone to Satellite, this cd sounds much quieter, which is a good thing. There is no shortage of melodies or powerful moments, however, as the music weaves its way inside your head like a snake. This release showcases string arrangements, female vocals, and other production touches that were not on their previous recordings, making this their most advanced work yet. That coupled with the maturing song-writing makes this an exciting band to keep your eyes on. Look for great things in the future from Tarentel, but buy this cd today if you don't have it."
