Album DescriptionThis CD unites two of the best-known and beloved orchestral works of the Russian master Piotr Ilitch Tchaikovsky (1840-1893). Talented pianist Arkady Sevidov, who is a musician with a wide range of interests, belongs to the middle generation of Russian virtuosos and displays a large repertoire and enormous ability. He is a passionate interpreter of chamber music of all kinds, a keen accompanist for singers, and an enthusiastic teacher who is highly admired by his students. Sevidov has been giving concerts abroad for several years. Concert tours lead him to all the great music centers in Eastern and Western Europe, Japan, and the US, as well as to Cuba and India. Conductor Samuel Friedmann was born in Kharkov in 1940. He graduated from the Kharkov Conservatory as a violinist in 1964 and from the Leningrad Conservatory as a conductor in 1966. Friedmann performed throughout the Soviet Union until 1973, when he immigrated to Israel and began his international career. His concert activities led him to the US and many European countries. During this time, Samuel Friedmann took over the positions of the Musical Director or Chief Conductor of the Haifa Symphony in Israel (1973-75), the Württemberg Philharmonic in Germany (1979-83) and the St. Gallen Opera House in Switzerland (1983-89).
