It may be cheap, but it is not nasty!

"Dubravka Tomsic is one of those unheard of great pianists that really should be heard a lot more. She studied at Julliard and in Eastern Europe and is a truely wonderful artist. Almost all her recordings are on budget labels and so their may be a tendancy to write her off as another one of those plathora of capable European pianists who don't really create anything special. This is sad because I have yet to hear anything ordinary played by her. Her musicianship is immaculate and her performancews are always excitng and wonderful. Occasionally (very ocassionally) she can be let down by the orchestra but not very often. This recording of the Tchaikovsky 1st Piano Concerto is as good as any other I have heard (and I have a lot of recordings!). It really is beautifully played and is exciting in the right places and lyrical in the right places. Try it. You won't be dissapointed - by the price either!"
