"I just got this recording from Amazon. The liner notes states that tchaikovsky was never keen to compose a trio when his patroness, Nadeshda von Meck requested him in 1880.A few months later his greatest friend and Advocate Nikolaj Rubinstein died and Tchaikovsky poured his heart out in 'memory of a great artist'and a Masterpiece was composed. All three performers are great artists in their own right. The Pianist , Yuri A.Rozum is one of the greatest pianist alive today, having won a few gold medals in various international competitions. The Violinist, Alexander Jablokov, a Bach specialist. The Cellist, Klaus-peter Hahn one the greatest cellist alive and a Conductor of great aclaim, now that's how music lovers should pick their records, i mean when you know that the experience of the performers is top excellent. This recording is the top notch with excellent sound the engineers must be comended for great work. One listen i knew this is the one to own. Amazon has a list of other great recordings of the trio op. 50 but this one is at the top of the list.My suggestion is that music lovers must not buy the trio op. 50 because of the "popular artist performing" but on the performance.Tchakovsky poured his out grieving for his friend. What i like most about the Trio op.50 is that it does not only grieve in its sound but it's also very romantic in that the music is very fresh full of memories amost may be sweet moments shared by the composer and his Advocate& friend, Rubinstein. If you want another blazing performance you can buy Berezowsky. Mathtin & Alexander Kniazev-DVD on naive label but make sure you get the correct Region code as it comes from region 2 in Europe.Buy this CD and you wont regret."

"A friend recommended this to me. Though it is a trio, the piano is really the star in this performance. Gorgeous piece, gorgeous performance."
