"i saw ted hawkins perform live at "the fine line" in minneapolis a few months before he passed away and that was one show i will never forget. the man had simply about as amazing a voice as you will ever hear. often misplaced in "the blues" section of music stores, mr hawkins was actually a soul singer, but without string arrangements and horns; he was an acoustic guitar based performer, unlike most soul singers. folk or soul, or whatever you want to label it, his music is electrifying because of THAT VOICE. this recording is his best. his version of jesse winchester's "biloxi" is spellbinding (and here the producer must get some credit for the tasteful overdubbing of other instruments over ted's guitar strumming). "as long as i can see the light," is another classic take of incomparable beauty. i could go on and on. just get this great recording. you will love it."

"I had heard one song from the CD on a radio program I particularly enjoy, and from two lines into the song,I knew I liked it a lot.Later, when I ordered the CD,I was sure I would like the rest of it,and I was not disappointed.Ted Hawkins' style is very powerful."
Nothing like it.

"The first time I heard Ted Hawkins it stopped me dead in my tracks. How can something this good linger in obscurity. It's like finding a place deep in the woods with waterfalls and wild flowers that no one knows about.
Well now you know....so close your eyes and take it all in. All of his CD's are good, but I believe this one is the best."
