Originally a Hanna-Barbera superhero designed by comic artist Alex Toth in the 1960s, Space Ghost was revived by the Cartoon Network as a surreal, self-involved talk-show host in 1994. Given free rein to show off his previ... more »ously hidden talents as a song-and-dance man, Space Ghost (voiced by George Lowe) soared and was rewarded with a musical variety show, Cartoon Planet. Musical Bar-B-Que is the second collection spawned by Cartoon Planet, and it contains much of the out-of-print Modern Music for Swinging Super Heroes. A heaping chunk of inspired wackiness from Space Ghost and two of his enemies (the dimwitted Brak and the lovably gruff Zorak), Musical Bar-B-Que makes even The Simpsons seem tame. --Randy Silver« less

For any fan of Space Ghost Coast-to-Coast, this is an essential collection of original songs and soundbites along with some material from the show. This record is great fun for fans of the Adult Swim classic show and anyone looking for something goofy and different.

"This is a hilarious album. I've played it for a lot of people and everyone has loved it. Not liked it, LOVED it! I mean, come on! It's got "Don't Touch Me," one of the funniest songs ever written. This would be the perfect thing to play to surprise a bride and groom for the first dance (bride and groom only) at their wedding reception. Try it. They'll be rolling in the isles. Or spraying punch out of their noses at the very least. But wait. That's not all. Not only are there 25 songs on this album, there are also 13 skits, which brings the total to 38 tracks of joy. This is one of the coolest CDs I own and am very proud to have it in my collection. Even if you've never heard of Space Ghost, Brak or Zorak, it doesn't matter. If you don't mind a little craziness, then this may be just the album you're looking for."
Ah, such sweet, nonsensical memories...

"My friend bought this CD and brought it to summer camp when we were 13 or 14 years old, and now the songs are permanently etched into my neurons. From the M.C. Hammer-like "Don't Touch Me" to the grunge-parody "Smells Like Cartoon Planet" to the various sketches peppered throughout the disc, this CD is perfect for the kind of "shut your brain off and laugh" times that come with summer... not to mention being 14 years old. You may think "Oh, it's stupid. I'm above all that." But you're missing out on an almost Monty Pythonian absurdist experience."
