4 1/2 stars--classic hard rock

"Ted Nugent is a unique individual, to say the least. While in more recent years he has become more well-known for his hunting prowess and conservative political views, he originally was simply known as the "Motor City Madman" with his unique brand of attitude-laced hard rock. This "best of" collection highlighting the earliest and most famous years of his career is a worthy entry in my classic/hard rock collection."Cat Scratch Fever" is perhaps Ted's best known song, an over-the-top raunch rocker of sorts that was his only top 40 song (#30). "Free For All" and "Motor City Madhouse" are hard-driving rock classics. "Stranglehold" is one of Ted's best-known (and best) songs, an 8-minute-plus epic. "Wango Tango" is just downright odd--nothing remotely pop about this song. The live track and closer on this collection "Wang Dang Sweet Poontang" is Ted at his rocking and raunchy best. Check out the length of the guitar solo in the middle of this track. For sure, Ted has released a lot of material over the years, and a 10-track collection couldn't possibly due his career full justice. Nonetheless, this is a very worthwhile collection to get for a decent summary of a lot of the most noteworthy songs of Ted in his prime. While Ted himself is not a great singer (listen to the all-time great super group Damn Yankees to hear both his amazing guitar work and melodic vocals), his music is fun and hard rocking. Definitely an enjoyable listen still after all these years."
A true must for a classic rock collection

"The best of the Motor City Madman captured on one CD. Any collection of classic R&R must include this one."
