Album Description

Digitally remastered two-fer containing a pair of albums from the Soul/R&B star on one disc: This One's For You (1982) and Heaven Only Knows (1983). Teddy Pendergrass was so prolific during his time with Philly International Records in the late `70s and early `80s that there was an abundance of unreleased recordings left in the vaults. Pendergrass' near-fatal 1982 car accident kept him out of the studio for a few years, but, in the meantime, PIR issued these two albums of previously unreleased material. Each album is loaded with enough love and smooth grooves to keep the R&B and pop purists happy for a long time to come. Both of these albums are currently unavailable in the U.S. Edsel. 2005.

"The two albums on this CD remain among Teddy's most underappreciated solo recordings but no serious Pendergrass fan should be without them. Why? Both contain some classic TP tracks that should have been major hits and are fine examples of his TP at his soulful best. My only guess about their having been unreleased prior to his near-fatal accident is that they weren't up to the level of the material issued on his first four studio LPs. Revisit them...and love them."
