"Seven years after its debut, Ace's Teenage Crush compilation series unveils volume four. Previous volumes in the series have focused more on higher-charting, more well-known "clean-cut" teen tunes from the late 50's and 60's. But here, in something of a nod to Ace's now retired "Golden Age of American Rock and Roll" series, collectors of the genre are stunned with a wealth of never-before-on-CD tunes of the era. The obligatory top hits are represented here by the likes of Pat Boone's "Love Letters In The Sand", Frankie Avalon's "Why" and "Take Good Care Of My Baby" from Bobby Vee. The bigger treasure whetting the collector's appetite however is a massive collection of CD debuts with such tracks as "Just Young" from Andy Rose, "I'm Not A Fool Anymore" by T.K. Hulin, Frank Pizani's "Angry" and "Young Ideas" from Chico Holiday. And the goodies don't stop with these CD dubuts as several of the big chart hits included are hard- if not impossible-to-find gems such as Dale and Grace's follow-up hit "Stop And Think It Over" and Kris Jensen's "Torture". No surprise too is Ace's dedication to production excellence evidenced in the sound quality and 20-page liner notes booklet packed with pics, illustrations and backround on the artists and tracks included. Known for its outstanding reissues, Ace lives up to its reputation and then some with this newest and most welcome edition to its reissues of classic-era American rock and roll tunes. Absolute top-of-the-line stuff."

"Broven, Finnis and Churchill at ACE do it again with Volume Four. This is another classic collection of Pop Rockers and Teen Ballads from the Golden Age Of Rock'n Roll. As with every ACE compilation quality is always the best. This collection contains some rare gems such as; "Three Stars" by Tommy Dee and The Teen Tones (from the original master tape). "She's Neat" By Dale Wright, "Just Young" by Andy Rose. Almost every selection on this disc is a bonafied hit. When you hear "The Wonder Of You" by Ray Peterson, you would think it was recorded yesterday. The re-mastering is impeccable. I hear things that I never knew were there. This collection gets my highest marks for sound quality.
Thanks ACE!"

"Have listened to this one about 8 times in just 2 weeks. Lots of memories from songs I never hear on oldies radio. A few songs I (possibly) never heard and grew to love them quickly. Excellent purchase for nostalgia freaks and lovers of oldies and innocent times."
An impeccable collection that I will always enjoy

"This fourth installment of the CD "teenage Crush" series truly has wonderful, timeless songs and ballads all performed by very special artists. There's not a single dud in the bunch here, although of course we will all have our favorites on this disc. The quality of the sound is excellent and I like that artwork, too.
"I Saw Linda Yesterday" by puts Dickey Lee in the spotlight; it has a very good beat and I love it! "Just Young" by the great Andy Rose has a beautiful musical arrangement and it all holds its own very well. "Little Boy Blue" by Huelyn Duvall is yet another impressive track. I love that guitar work!
The classic Pat Bone recording of "Love Letters in the Sand" has a sweet melody that belies the seriousness of the lyrics; Pat sings of a love affair that didn't work out. It may be a sad song; but Pat Boone never sounded better! There's also Bobby Darin's incredibly electric "Queen of the Hop;" Bobby infuses this with so much energy I could never tire of hearing him do this amazing tune! Rick Nelson's "Never Be Anyone Else But You" is another special ballad that Rick aces as effortlessly as if it were mere breathing--but of course we know it really wasn't all that easy--Rick's talent always carried him through.
"I'll Remember Carol" is a torch song with quite a mid century beat; and Johnny Burnette's "Dreamin'" lacks nothing--this music is all THAT good. "Dreamin'" makes good use of a backup chorus, too. The Statues' "Blue Velvet" has them delivering this very smoothly with so much emotion straight from the heart; and listen for "Why Don't They Understand" by George Hamilton IV. The key modulations and the tempo changes work wonders for "Why Don't They Understand," too. Wow, how George could really sing `em all out! Frankie Avalon's "Why" is very easy on the ear as well; and I think you'll like this track if you haven't heard it before.
"Torture" by Kris Jensen is done to perfection-and beyond! "Treasure of Love" by Clyde McPhatter is a winning song for sure; and Denny Reed's "Teenager Feels It Too" is all about that teen angst that we all experience sooner or later. "She's Neat" is infectiously catchy; and Bobby Vee's "Take Good Care of My Baby" is a stunner--great! Also, Tommy Dee and The Teen Tones do "Three Stars" with panache; and there's another fine gem in "Goodbye Cruel World" performed by James Darren--what a torch song! Dale & Grace sing a fine rendition of "Stop and Think It Over;" they harmonize very well and I'm genuinely impressed.
T.K. Hulin's "I'm Not a Fool Anymore" stuns me with its sensitive treatment; and there's Dean Christie "Heart Breaker" is yet another song with which we can all identify at one time or another. Lou Christie's "Two Faces Have I" is certainly a classic; Lou sings this with all his heart and soul and I love his delivery of this song. The Lettermen also make good with their splendid "When I Fall in Love;" these guys were always the best and just one listen proves it! "Angry" has some mighty fine guitar work to go with Frank Pizani's vocals; and Ray Peterson's "The Wonder of You" has him right in the center of the spotlight. Frank's sophisticated phrasing enhances his performance even more, too.
The Fleetwoods' "Mt. Blue" has them harmonizing faultlessly; and the brass, percussion and more make a terrific musical accompaniment as they sing this wonderfully. "So Young" is very well done; and the CD ends strong with Chico Holiday performing "Young Ideas" with lots of energy.
It's abundantly clear that this fourth installment in the "Teenage Crush" CD series is a must-have for anyone who loves unforgettable "oldies" music. This is a great CD for fans of the artists on this disc; and this also makes a fine starter CD for people just getting into this genre of music."
